Information You Send
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Santa Ana Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search entries on its own servers. A message sent to the contact address is used only to read and answer that message.
Routine Technical Logs
The host may record an IP address, browser details, pages viewed, and time stamps in ordinary server logs. Aggregate counts help identify broken pages and broad reading patterns. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics or, if present, ad measurement.
Why Information Is Used
Technical data supports hosting, fault repair, traffic measurement, and page improvement. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from the limited information described here.
External Record Portals
Pages point to Orange County and California records portals, local-history collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Each outside service has its own privacy terms, which govern information submitted there. The sponsored results are supplied by a separate provider.
Who Can Receive It
Hosting and technical vendors may process server logs while supporting the pages. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data noted above when those services operate. Disclosure may also occur when valid legal process requires it.
Security and Retention
The pages use an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described above. There are no resident accounts, passwords, or user profiles on the site to expose through a normal account breach.
People Under 18
The reference service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. Contact us if a minor has sent information so it can be reviewed and deleted when appropriate.
California Privacy Choices
California residents may have access, correction, deletion, and sale-or-sharing opt-out rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq., subject to the law’s scope and exceptions. Because little information is retained here, a request normally means checking the contact mailbox and available logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Government records held by California, Orange County, or Santa Ana offices are controlled by their custodians under the California Public Records Act, Government Code section 7920.000 et seq., not by this service. California’s separate DROP system may address registered data brokers; it does not erase a deed, court index, assessor record, or History Room item.
Policy Changes
A revised policy will appear here with the new text. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
